Love breaks down all the barriers… After the amendment to the same-sex marriage laws in Australia, it was time for the celebration of love in any shape and form!
But laws have little to do with real love and commitment, which is what made Madi plan a romantic night out for Crystal, followed by a secluded courtyard proposal. “I had Crystal’s housemates set up their apartment courtyard with fairy lights, flowers, and a big teddy bear with a box light saying: ‘Will you marry me?’. After dinning, I brought her back with her eyes closed, to see the setup. I’m glad she said ‘yes’!”
After that, it was time for Madailein Donnelly and Crystal Stirling to start their wedding planning, the way they have always dreamed of, ever since they fell in love with each other.
For the past few months, the happy news on the Australian Marital Law changes has enjoyed both the attention of the media and the support of the local community! We had to celebrate it with a photo shoot, which can easily be considered a rehearsal for the girl couple! A styled bohemian ceremony was held, where the girls said “I DO” in the Hellenic Vintage way! Wearing not one, but two handmade wedding dresses each (cause one can never have enough wedding dresses and ‘I DOs’), they were captured in a simple but festive bridal atmosphere, created by Perth wedding industry vendors.
Their haute-couture wedding gowns expressed their sassy, bold personalities as they were dressed in ivory and pure white organic cotton lace! Transparency and intricate hand-knitted crochet, caught everyone’s eye, and love triumphed!
The ceremony included personalised vows and the new declaration of marriage wording being read to the audience of spectators, the exchanging of rings and a surprise ‘rainbow confetti’ shower as they shared a loving kiss. Madi and Crystal are planning an official elopement for 2019.
